Zingaro, Merseyside-based vocal-led five-piece (or instrumental four-piece), move effortlessly through classic 70s fusion to acid jazz and beyond, with Latin and soul inspirations. With founder Kev Lovelady on keys and collaborative input from long-standing band members Brian McCusker on guitars and Chris Jones on basses and more recently Paul Keelan on drums, they have been fronted since 2018 by singer Naomi Adah. Keyboard & guitar textures and sympathetic drums & bass provide tasteful backing and inventive soloing to showcase Naomi’s soulful vocals. Striving to incorporate a positive human message with a social conscience whenever possible, Zingaro’s reworkings of well-known and not so well-known vocal and instrumental numbers along with original compositions offer a range of eclectic grooves, which balance being both listenable and danceable.
